Why Fortnite is still the highest trending game?
Fortnite is still the wildly popular and hotly-discussed game all over the internet. The online videogame Fortnite Battle Royale was launched just a year ago in September 2017. Since then the game had amassed 125 million active players by June and made $1.2 billion for its developer Epic Games. The question is, how did Fortnite became so popular? Here are the top reasons behind Fortnite’s huge success!
The game is completely free to play, and it’s available on all major platforms, from consoles to phones to PCs and Macs. Not only it is available on all platforms, players can enjoy the feature named “cross-platform” play. Fortnite cross-platform play (or cross play) allows mobile (Android and iOS), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac and Windows PC players to play together.
For those who are not aware, “Battle Royale” games are those that focus on the exciting aspect of lumping 100 or so live players in a confined map. Loot, in the forms of weapons, explosives, and medicine, can be found throughout the map. Meanwhile, there is a “Storm,” which will gradually shrink on a designated area of the map, forcing players to get closer and closer together to force fights as time goes on. Your job is to stay out of the Storm and find as much good loot as possible, while killing everyone in the way, Hunger Games-style.
The last player alive is the winner!
Fun and Unique Gameplay – as in, “Fortnite = Minecraft + PUBG”
Before Fortnite, shooter games mainly revolved around a duck-and-cover approach, and this can get stale. Because Fortnite allows players to gather materials (by destroying trees for wood, stone for bricks, and cars/buildings for metal) to build structures, you have more creative ways to retaliate and overcome your enemies.
A variety Goofy/Exhilarating ways to kill your enemies
Content you wouldn’t expect in a battle royale shooter game. For example, you can do some of the following funky things:
Place floor/ceiling traps to maim your enemies
Throw Boogie Bombs to forcibly make your enemies dance for several seconds
Hide as a bush to ambush your enemies
Timed events (Season, battle pass, live events etc.)
Epic keeps Fortnite Battle Royale feeling fresh with interesting timed events and new modes. I’ve only spent $10 on battle pass to date, and I can’t count the numbers of hours I’ve spent with this game completing challenges to level up tiers in order to unlock cosmetics, emotes etc. The game has enough hooks that are
Emotes and Cosmetics (Item Shop)
Fortnite has hundreds of emotes (dances) which allow users to express themselves differently on the battlefield. A player can select from the different categories of dances available and express themselves and mock other players after knocking them out on the battlefield with the one which suit their own style or choice.
How long can Fortnite last in 2019?
The question now, as with any gaming trend, is how long this can last. While games such as Pokémon Go often have blockbuster openings, revenue quickly declines. More than one year on from launch, Fortnite is still going strong–at the moment–and releasing on Android in August opened up a whole new market. Whether Epic Games can keep up the pace, offering fresh new content appealing to its player base, is an open question.
